I love a windy day... but sometimes it's a challenge when you are out on a shoot! Sunday afternoon was one of those days. It was way cold and windy out, but Jas was such a good sport and luckily the sun was shining to keep our back sides warm! She was a photographers dream, not only was she game for anything, she had flawless skin! I did absolutely no airbrushing to these at all! Thank you Jasmyn for making my job easy!!! This was my first time to meet Laurie & John, and they are so cute together!!! It's so easy to see he absolutely adores her! Katelyn and I got together this summer to do her bridals at the prayer garden at First Baptist Church in Boerne and when we done there we headed down to the Boerne riverfront to finish up. We didn't expect to find it covered in geese... we were dodging the geese droppings everywhere when a swarm of them decided to see what we were up to. Katelyn was hilarious, chasing them away... it was quite the scene.... seeing her run around in her big dress and pink heels chasing them off... thanks for a fun time and some fabulous pictures!!!

Here it is finally.... I've been waiting to share this forever!!! We did Kara's bridal in April at the San Antonio Riding Stables and I just fell in love with them! (My favorite is the one on the horse.) Her wedding was this past weekend and I just finished emailing her wedding pictures so figured I had earned a break to post this. In case you are curious.... San Antonio Riding Stables is not for profit, they provide the horses and the trails and your donation helps feed the horses... Something you can definitely feel good about! Crazy hot day that it was this past Tuesday, we had work to do... make Kelly look fabulous for her bridal session. She's my bride who inspired me to start my plus size division when her first set of engagement pictures highlighted her plus size.... hello! Not fun! I could totally relate because my photographer had a knack for making me look bad in my wedding pictures... but I turned it around and made it work for me. So that's my angle, making sure you look good. I think we achieved that! Thanks again for the inspiration Kelly! I hope you love these forever!!!

Carrie & Aron hired me to photograph their wedding about four hours from here... They picked the most beautiful day in the prettiest place to get married.... They found a quaint little wedding hall called Ella's Garden in Tomball just north of Houston, and what a perfect place that was, you can tell it was laid out with a bride in mind! I just had to share a picture of the golf cake... if you want to buy my affection, send me anything with chocolate ganache and I will love you forever! This was hands down the best cake I've ever eaten.... and being a wedding photographer, I've tried a few! We wrapped things up with a trip over to the botanical gardens where every spot was picture perfect and ended up closing the place down! Thanks Carrie & Aron for having me as your historian! and thanks for letting me share some of the little details of your day.

I love shooting in Gruene, every time I go, I find a new spot that I hadn't discovered before. Dina and Mike had me out to Marquardt Ranch for my first wedding there. What a beautiful venue! It's almost as if it was set up with a photographers eye! There was a fabulous wheaty field close by and a stream that we shot by when we did their engagement session.... and then on the day of the wedding they let us up on the roof to take some shots as the sun was setting on the treetops below! My daughter was skipping through television shows one night and happened on an episode of 'say yes to the dress' that was dedicated to plus sized brides and they were talking about how hard it is to find dresses in larger sizes and I had an epiphany.... how easy is it to find a photographer who knows how to work with plus size brides?... so I did a little googling and there really isn't much out there. No one in San Antonio that I could find.... so I offer for you, a new category of services... honed from years of experience, and based on my own issues with my wedding day puffiness and double chins!

When I posted on my facebook that I was looking for anyone who was interested in doing some plus sized pictures, Dina offered that I should start with hers that we just finished... so thank you Dina!!! for giving me the opportunity to work with you and Mike... and for being my first. I'm going to continue to do what I do normally, but I just want to make sure plus sized people know there is someone out there who has their interests at heart. longest blog ever!

Obviously, I'm never caught up with blogging.... world's worst blogger, right here! This is from Casey & Rob's wedding this summer.... in the fabulous Mexican resort town of Playa del Carmen (I love my job!!!). We did their engagement session (and reception after) in Louisiana and then flew to Mexico for the ceremony just in time to meet up with tropical storm Alex, which we happened to get the pleasure of seeing again in Hurricane force on our return trip to Texas... but that's another story. In spite of the crazy weather, we had a great time and got some fabulous pictures. I took my husband along and we had him hold the camcorder and protect the cameras from the wind and rain and we ended up staying for a week and catching a little R&R while we were there, doing a little underground snorkeling and zip lining above the trees! Thank you Casey & Rob for the wonderful opportunity!!!

Natalie and Trey got married in Shreveport this month at the American Rose Center... that is such a beautiful place this time of year!!! We were planning to go the traditional route and do all of the pictures of them together after the ceremony, when a couple days before the wedding they decided to change plans and see each other before hand and take our time without being rushed. Just so you know, I don't ever pressure anyone to do things on any set timeline, I'm working for you, just trying to make things easy and make sure that we get everything you want done in the time we've got.... Doing them before hand turned out to be a great decision, 1. because we had the opportunity to take pictures in several different beautiful places at the Rose Center and 2. because it started raining on us as we were finishing up.... good call guys! (I could use their crystal ball!) Here are some of my favorite shots of the two of them together including a really sweet one from their first dance together. Thanks for letting me share!!!

I was just getting ready to head out for the night to ring in the New Year with my family and realize I haven't posted anything in almost two months! It's because I've been busy!!! Here's something from my most memorable trip ever earlier this month. I shot LeAnna and Chase's wedding at a beautiful Historic Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi. Surprisingly enough, I spent 8 hours of the drive there in a crazy blizzard! It started in Houston and didn't let up until we got there, but wow! Was it beautiful! Saturday this weekend was so beautiful.... but Sunday was overcast and rainy most of the day! Last weekend I was in Shreveport working round the clock and I had to share this as one of my favorite moments..... What a great way to wrap up the summer! This was a spontaneous moment after our photo shoot was over, I had to unpack my camera so I didn't miss it....

Last summer I donated a bridal and engagement session to the San Antonio Bridal Fair, it took place immediately following Hurricane Ike and the proceeds from the auction sale all went to the Hurricane relief. Karina and Joe were the winners of that auction and took me downtown to LaVillita to do their engagement session, one of their favorite places in San Antonio, and the site of his proposal. Tomorrow I'm off to do Karina's bridal portrait... she is going to be a stunning bride!!!

On the subject of giving back, you can look for gift certificates for photo sessions at auction tomorrow at the Missions Care Golf Tournament at The Quarry and on June 13th at Anne Marie's on Starcrest at a benefit auction to support 5 year old Kenny Hudnall.

Donation to March of Dimes

Valentine's day is tomorrow and today I'm feeling grateful for all the love in my life. I have a friend who just lost her first child, he was born 12 weeks premature and only lived for five days. She has set up a memorial fund in his honor with the March of Dimes, and I am going to donate my next wedding deposit to them, if you choose to hire me next, you can make the check out to them (but mail it and the contract to me). Katelyn 1986 - 2008

I'm so sad to say that my cousin's daughter, died this morning three years after receiving a double lung transplant. She was born 22 years ago with Cystic Fibrosis and didn't let it hold her back. One of the last times I saw her was at a horse show. She had a pony that she raced on and I swear that she could make it fly, they moved so fast! She was an incredibly talented equestrian.

In 2004 she was listed in Teen People magazine as one of the 20 Teens Who Will Change the World, it is definitely a better place for her having been here. Here she is in an episode of Seventh Heaven talking about her transplant and raising awareness about CF. And now I'm going to go hug my kids and count my blessings.

So, I really enjoyed my shoot on Sunday with Darleen Dixon, one of my favorite radio personalities, and her husband, guitarist Griffin-X who pulled out his guitar and played a little spot for me. I love having the opportunity to capture the feelings between a mother and child in photographs. We moms tend to miss out on the history books since we are usually the ones behind the camera so I always ask to take pictures with the mom's as well. It's moments like these that make me realize that I'm doing something more than just making pictures with my camera, I'm making memories...I really love my job! I'm going to go hug my kids now! Sigh!

Alyse & Craig are getting married next spring and took me to the Grande Hall at the Hofmann Ranch in Castroville(http://www.hofmannranch.com/) for their engagement pictures. We made the most incredible save the date cards out of them! What a phenomenal place to host a wedding reception! There were so many great places to shoot there that we ran out of daylight before we ran out of possibilities! Thanks for letting me share!
